Spurs in new Real player link

by Matthew Harris on July 23, 2012

It may be that the real stumbling block in the Luka Modric deal lies in finding a player suitable or willing to come the other way as part of the transfer. In recent weeks, at least three players – Nuri Sahin, Karim Benzema and Ricardo Carvalho have been touted as possible candidates but nothing has yet materialised.

This afternoon, a fourth player has been mentioned in the shape of Real Madrid B striker Joselu. The 22 year old German born player is prolific with the B team, averaging over a goal every other game but he has little experience with the full squad. However, he has scored in both of his games for the first team so far.

The player is valued at £8million and considered surplus to requirements. Recently, he has been linked with a move to Hoffenheim but as Real and Luka become ever more desperate, it’s thought that Spurs could take advantage of the situation and bring the promising Joselu to White Hart Lane.

Does anyone know of any “swap deal” that has actually ever happened, the closest I can get is Frazier Campbell on loan in exchange for Berba on the last day. Other than that I’m stuck – British tabloids are always going on about swap deals but I’d love to know if anyone can think of any that actually happened?

When Birmingham signed Clinton Morrison from palace, Andy Johnson went the other way as part of the fee.
Only one I can remember, and only because of how poor Morrison was and how good Johnson turned out.

i have seen him play a couple of times and if Real offer £25million plus him i’d take it as he is better than what we currently have in Jermain Defoe.

So Ric let me get this straight. You’ve seen an unknown Real Madrid B team player play a couple of times and you reckon he’s better than Jermain Defoe?
Jesus Christ. Support your team. Defoe is a Yiddo and a class act

hey hey July 23, 2012 at 9:41 pm

they are apparently upping their cash to around 30 mil pounds i would take that and joselu, gives us a younger striker coming up the ranks with kane then adey to sign and we still have money for a modric replacement and we can either sell defoe or loan out kane

DEFOE IS CLASS
Last year he scored 17 in 25 games (plenty as sub). Ade scored 18 in 33 (almost always starting).
Cannot understand why people think we should sell him. You will only be disappointed with the replacement and want to sell them, buy another one etc etc
