It hardly seems a year ago that Spurs were being linked with a move for former Ajax man and current Dutch international keeper Maarten Stekelenburg. Even after the capture of Brad Friedel, there was a theory that Brad had been brought in as back up to a major arrival at the Lane.

After Stekelenburg joined Roma, that particular rumour was filed away but it has resurfaced today amidst claims that the 29 year old is unsettled at his new club.

The source seems to be our old friend the Daily Mail who suggest that the keeper has failed to settle in Italy and after the departure of coach Luis Enrique he is said to be desperate for a move.

The story then claims that the ‘stumbling block’ is Roma’s £8m valuation but given some of the prices quoted for Hugo Lloris and other goalkeepers, that sounds like something of a bargain.

This could well be a non-starter but at face value it might sound like our best option as far as a long term replacement for Brad is concerned.

  1. Get Butland or Vorm. If we have the cash to spend, which I think we do considering how much dead weight we have to sell, then get Lloris.

  2. Go for Butland. Go for Lewondowski, and Hunterlaar or Demba Ba, if Modric goes Moutinhoa(spelling)
    Butland
    Walker Kaboul Vertonghen BAE
    Sandro Modric Livermore
    Lennon/Gio Lewondowski Bale
