Over the course of the weekend, reports gathered momentum linking Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila with a move to the Premiership after his club claimed that they had received a concrete bid from England. Those reports continued to claim that the bid was from Spurs and not from Arsenal, who are thought to have tracked the player for some time.
The player himself, while apparently open to a move, is concentrating on the new French season.
For now, I’m here and I’m not complaining,” M’Vila said.
“I am available to the coach and I give my best as always.
“If I have to stay with Rennes for another year, I’ll stay – if I go, that is life – but whilst I am here, I am 100 per cent focused.”
M’Vila is 22 and is deployed by club and country as a defensive midfielder. He has already won 22 caps for the full French side and is regarded as one of the best prospects in the country right now.
Whether Spurs really are in the frame remains to be seen but time is now running out to secure anyone’s services prior to the start of the season.
