After leaving new permanent signing Emmanuel Adebayor on the bench for the first two games of the season, the press are suggestion that Andre Villas-Boas is ready to trust the Togolese with leading the line at Reading, providing he is satisfied with the player’s fitness.

After weeks and weeks of wrangling over personal terms, it seemed surprising for many supporters to see Ade starting on the bench against West Brom and Norwich but it seems that he may simply not have been fit enough. With a summer of inactivity back at Manchester City, the striker has had no pre-season to build up to match fitness and that appears to be why the head coach left him with the subs.

After re-joining us on a permanent basis, AVB has put Ade on an intense fitness regime however and the Togolese is set for a first start at Reading.

With Villas-Boas preferring a lone striker, it could mean that Jermain Defoe drops to the bench for this game but many supporters would like to see Ade and JD link up in the way that they did with some success last season.

Who would you like to see up front at Reading – Adebayor, Defoe or both?

      • There’s a difference between being fit and match fit. You can train all you like but if you’re not playing in games there’s a certain level of fitness you won’t get to. You can’t simulate game action.

    • Wow.
First time this season you made any sense akshayaalase.
Back to earth now are we?
And yes, start with Ade up front on his own. This is how AVB wants to play. Lets get on with it and improve it. The sooner the better.

w/ Dembele having an advanced role with Sandro filling that void. I think it would connect the midfield better. It looked to open last couple of matches.
