Spurs have been continually linked with a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian after reports at the weekend came through that he continues to stall on a new contract.

Formerly linked with Wigan, Lopez was occasionally mentioned over the summer but when you look at his overall statistics, do they really add up?

At 25, Adrian is a much travelled player, having spent a year at Oviedo from 2005. He then moved to Deportivo La Coruna and after loan spells at Alaves and Malaga, moved to Atletico in 2011. Throughout that career, his goals to game ratio is around one in five.

It’s a better story for Spain where he had an impressive youth career that included five in five for the under 20’s. However, he has just two full caps and one goal to his name.

The interest may have been spurred by reports of his excellent link up with Radamel Falcao. On the other hand, you could also argue that Falcao would make any of us look good if we played with him.

£14m is the figure being touted for Adrian but does it really add up to more than paper talk?
