Spurs defender confident of positive result at Old Trafford

by Matthew Harris on September 25, 2012

Throughout this week there will be plenty of stories reminding us that we haven’t won at Old Trafford since Gary Linker’s effort secured a 1-0 victory way back in 1989. In truth, most Spurs fans would settle for a point in this Saturday’s late kick-off and new recruit Jan Vertonghen is confident that we can achieve a draw at the very least.

“I’m really looking forward to my first game there with Tottenham,” Jan said.

“I think we’re strong enough to do nice things there. A lot of players are injured and when everyone is back I think we’ll have one of the strongest teams in the league.

“We’ve played well away from home and we’ve got a lot of confidence, especially after our first home win.”

Spurs have only managed a handful of draws in that 23 year period – the most notable coming with the Mendes’ phantom goal. Would you settle for a point or is this Spurs side capable of taking the win and ending the jinx?

To have any chance of a result we must play three in midfield eg Sandro Hud and Dembele (it would have been nice to have the choice of Parker/Livermore) and upfront Lennon DeFoe (Adebayor) Bale

For the last 4 seasons I’ve felt we’ve had te team to go win at OT..but we never do, either for dodgy referee decisions or players not performing….Again I’m confident we can go there and get a positive result on Saturday, although we will have to keep ex goon scum quiet…I would take a draw, but we’ll probably lose !!! Who is the ref ?? Does anyone know ??

Great stuff, it’s Chris Foy (not Hoy)…

Hope he has a better afternoon than away at Stoke last season…

I suppose it could have been worse, Slaphead MUFC Webb….

COYS…

If Lloris plays we have a good chance of doing better than usual!!
