Tottenham’s under 21’s have been claiming impressive headlines in their own right and the side claimed a fifth successive victory in their version of the Premier League with a 4-1 win at Stoke on Saturday. By all accounts, their dominance was such that the score could have sneaked into double figures but for the performance of the Stoke goalkeeper.

Those displays have also extended to the NextGen series but the performances in this competition, and in particular a defeat of Barcelona has led to rumours linking at least two of the players with a transfer to the biggest two teams in La Liga.

Shaq Coulthirst scored a perfect hat trick in the 4-1 win over Barca earlier this month and it’s being reported that the Catalan giants are now monitoring his progress. Meanwhile, Alex Pritchard who added the fourth goal in that game is said to be under Real Madrid’s microscope.

Of course, this could be an example of the laziest journalism ever but if there is any truth in these rumours, it might be hard to keep both players happy at the Lane, when a move of this kind is in prospect.

    • Agree. How on earth can it backfire to groom our youngsters playing twice a week against good opposition??????????????????
We have some very talented youngsters who do not get 1. team football. This competition is brilliant.
      A little side note.
The next-gen is not a FIFA/UEFA thing. I like it when the great clubs in Europe (COYS) take initiative.

We at SPURS have a great future.

In Levy and AVB we trust.

      COYS

  1. AVB needs to get the talented youngsters some game time for the first team asap. I would far prefer to see Tom Carroll and Alex Pritchard playing for Spurs than Huddlestone and Dempsey.

I am sure that if Spurs had played their under 21 team against Arsenal that they would have come away with a win. The amount of talent in that team is amazing.

    • Give me a break. There are admittedly talented youngsters in the U21’s, but put them in against Arsenal at the Emirates? You strike me as being the sort that would prefer to see it in your head and then when we come away with a 10 goal spanking the sort who would condemn AVB for doing it.

  2. Pritchard already has a pro contract but I think Coulthirst can’t sign a pro contract till next summer but would expect a pre-contract soon.

  3. it might be hard to keep both players happy at the Lane, when a move of this kind is in prospect.

And they’re going to get plenty more opportunities at Barca and Real Madrid froflmao
