Head coach Andre Villas-Boas was giving little away at yesterday’s press conference but the important news is that midfielder Sandro is fit to keep his place in the side after an injury scare at the weekend.

“Everyone is okay apart from the longer-term injuries,” said Andre as the club confirmed Sandro’s availability on the official website.

Can we therefore also assume that Moussa Dembele is also fit and ready to resume his central defensive pairing with Sandro at the expense of Tom Huddlestone?

The rest of the team probably picks itself with Hugo Lloris looking set for an extended run in goal while Jermain Defoe is the only option up front in the absence of suspended Emmanuel Adebayor.

Hugo and probably Dawson aside, we could see the personnel and formation that took the team on a winning run from Reading onwards. Here’s our prediction but what’s your view?

  2. Would agree with that side. Would be perfect with Kaboul replacing Dawson, and Adebayor replacing Dempsey, but they’re obviously not available.

  3. No chance of Dembele starting. Will be Hudd and Sandro with Dembele coming on in 2nd half. He’s had too few minutes to be considered from the off.
Reckon we might see Gallas back for this one to counter Suarez on the deck. Caulker and Daws were the best pairing for Carroll & Co

  4. The team I would play:

    Lloris
    Walker Dawson Vertonghen Naughton
    Sandro Dembele
    Lennon Dempsey Bale
    Defoe

I think we will see Gallas and Huddlestone in AVB’s team, though.

  5. Lloris
    Walker, Daws, Vetonghen, Naughton
    Sandro, Hudd
    Lennon, Gylfi, Bale

I hope that Gallas doesn’t come back, our defence is in disarray when he plays, look how limited West ham’s chances were at the weekend until they had to go for it at the end, that’s the first time we’ve looked solid all season…….Dawson was immense on Sunday and is good on the deck as well as in the air, Naughton’s passing is appalling he gives the ball away too much. 8. Would like to see Dawson in the team again, but think AVB will see him as lacking the pace we need against the Liverpool front 3, so will probably see him dropped. Think it’s important to start playing Vertonghen in the middle, but we’ll see about that. Dembele as said above will hopefully come on after half time. Think Tom Carroll, Sandro and Siggy should be the 3 in the middle, with Lennon, Bale and Defoe ahead.

Subs: Friedel, Dawson, Dembele, Huddlestone, Dempsey, Naughton, Townsend

  9. Lloris.
    Walker,Dawson,Caulker,Vertoghen.
    Lennon,Sandro,Dembele,Bale.
    Dempsey,Defoe.
Same team that played brilliantly on Sunday apart from the return of key man Moussa!
