The Tottenham transfer rumours in the last twenty four hours have either focussed on Leandro Damiao or Montpelier midfielder Younes Belhanda. While few Spurs fans would argue that a striker signing would be useful, do we really need another midfielder – even if Belhanda is being widely talked up?

The media frenzy followed an announcement from Belhanda’s club stating that the player could leave during the January transfer window.

“I will let him leave, and I think he wants to leave as well,” said Montpelier President Louis Nicollin. “If they rise to €15m, everything will go through.”

However, Fenerbache are also tracking the player and some reports are even claiming that the Turkish side have agreed personal terms with the player – despite club chairman Abdullah Kigili stating,

“The current price being quoted is far too high”

Belhanda is just 22 and already has 15 caps for Morocco. He is highly thought of around Europe but is there really room for him in an overcrowded midfield at White Hart Lane?

    • U mite find this amazing because u sound thick as shit son but in football u can only field 11 players! Stop playing computer games and try actually watching football!

  1. Not at all. I’ve heard a lot of this talk recently – that Spurs midfield has everything.

It really doesn’t. We’re still missing that creative, that player with an ability pierce a defence with a pass.

Look at our form at home – we don’t have a player who can pick apart a team when a team is parking the bus, that’s why we’re playing much better away from home where we have more space to hit teams with pace.

I’m not saying Belhanda is exactly what we need, I’ve not seen enough. But what I have seen, he likes to pick the ball up in congested midfields and move with it, pick out passes, run at defenders, and open things up.

  2. I think should Belhanda come in, it will certainly spell the end of the road for one or two in a Spurs shirt, with the likes of livermore and huddlestone likely to be the main players looking over their shoulders.

Although I would prefer to see an Ever Banega type signed this window, there is NO questioning the talent of the excellent Belhanda. Strong, quick and skillful, the young Frenchman, who has been dubbed the ‘next Zidane’, would represent another huge coup for the club should these rumours prove to be true.

Verdict: Whilst he may not be my first choice, he would certainly make my shortlist. You can always make room for a talent like Belhanda, and at £11-12mill, we could be looking at a real bargain. Sign him!

    • Signing a player from montpellier a huge coup?! Get a grip! Signing falcao or cavani would be a huge coup not a good player who’s had one good season! Now is Thursday time to go all out for leandro damiao while we still can
