Super Spurs defender says the best is yet to come

by Matthew Harris on January 10, 2013

Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen has quickly become a fans’ favourite at White Hart Lane and at the end of this campaign, the Belgian international should really be seen as one of the signings of the season. He’s also notched a couple of important goals and has covered expertly at left back – with little or nothing in the way of complaint.

At this stage of the season, Super Jan reflected on his first few months as a Premiership player and he insisted that he can get even better.

“I wanted to be ready when I came to the Premier League and I felt ready when I came to Tottenham,” said Jan on the club’s official website.

“I think I’ve done okay, but you haven’t seen my best yet. I think I can improve.”

Overall however, Jan was happy with his first six months at the Lane and thanked the fans for their support.

“I’m happy with my first six months, played a lot of games, feel the confidence of the players, staff and supporters as well,” he added.

“After six months, I think I can be happy with my performances. The fans have been very supportive, I love them as well!”

With just under half the season to go, Jan Vertonghen has certainly been our signing of the campaign so far and could certainly be a worthy contender for player of the year, come the end of May.

Wow that was interesting. Can’t he say something more enlightening like he fancies AVB’s daughter?

That would be quite shocking, considering AVB is only 35.
