Tottenham head to Lyon to tackle the second leg of our Europa League tie and while our performance on the pitch is the obvious focus, it’s thought that the club will be using the game to take a closer look at a transfer target.
Spurs had been linked with a move for Lyon’s Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez and, depending on which report you read, we either ran out of time in the January window or alternatively, we offered a derisory fee.
Lopez is a 29 year old centre forward who can also play on the flanks and he has an impressive scoring record since arriving in France four years ago. The Argentine has scored 76 times in 146 games and has averaged around one strike in two for most of his senior career.
It seems almost inevitable that Tottenham will be in the market for a third forward this summer and while it’s hoped that Lisandro Lopez has a quiet game on Thursday night, his overall record suggests that he may just be a perfect fit at White Hart Lane.

29 though? It seems like another stop-gap and not a real solution. It would just be putting off paying for a real striker, again.
