Tottenham were criticised by some outside observers for not giving enough game time to Giovani Dos Santos during his time with the club. In his four years at the Lane, the Mexican made just 33 appearances scoring three times but in the meantime, he turned in consistently solid performances at international level which revealed his true potential.

On an admittedly slow news day (a report concerning our new roofing contractor is one of the most viewed stories) – we took a look at Gio’s performances since he signed for Real Mallorca in the summer.

The bare facts read that Dos Santos, who was given the number nine shirt, has made just 16 appearances this season scoring three times. It took until January before he got off the mark and in the meantime, Mallorca find themselves in the bottom two and are eight points adrift of safety.

Fans of the Mexican will be disappointed by his return and there’s no doubt that there is talent there somewhere.

Similar players such as Adel Taraabt and Kevin Prince-Boateng have left the club and gone on to improve. Questions remain as to whether Spurs were right to let them go but in the case of Giovani Dos Santos, this was certainly one decision that the club got right.

  1. Dos Santos should return to Mexico or MLS maybe as I don’t think culturally he can handle the changes and accomadations required. He needs to play at this point not sit. His best shot is Mexican or USA Leagues

  2. Defo should have kept Boateng

And at times this season Taarabt could really have been used….he looked great playing up front against us……..Bale and Taarabt upfront would send defences dizzy

Dos Santos we destroyed he never suited our system…..ironically he might have done well with AVB’s tactics as he actually knows what he is doing and knows how to get the best out of players…..for Harrys 442 Gio just wasnt physical enough to play out wide

  3. Its nice to see that AVB is getting more recognition….he actual does it for the team and opposed to himself like Harry

AVB generally cares when we score and win…like Fergie does everytime Man Utd get a goal.

Harry only ever celebrated after the Newcastle game because he got off his court case and he was proving a point with the Louis Saha goals loool look how that turned out.

It took AVB 6 months to realise Bale plays best centrally, Harry had him for 4 years and never even tried it…..now look at what hes doing with QPR, wasting there money and they are picking up loss after loss
