The draw for the quarter finals of the Europa League has been made and Spurs fans will be relatively happy to have been paired with Swiss outfit Basel. Some of the big names have been avoided but having narrowly scraped through a Swiss banana skin against Young Boys in 2010, the club won’t be underestimating their opposition.

Basel are here thanks to an impressive aggregate win over Russian Champions Zenit St Petersburg in the round of 16. Having won the first leg 2-0 in Switzerland, the side hung on despite losing 1-0 in the return fixture.

Prior to that loss, Basel  were unbeaten in ten matches and although the quality of the Swiss league may genuinely be inferior, there is undoubted quality in the team.

The first leg will be played at White Hart Lane on the 04th of April with the return leg taking place in Switzerland a week later.
