Spurs are being widely tipped today to be preparing a bid for 28 year old Spanish midfielder Borja Valero with reports claiming that Andre Villas-Boas has sent scouts to watch the Fiorentina player on four separate occasions.
However, Valero has only been with the Serie A side since the start of the season after joining from relegated Spanish side Villarreal and he’s quickly developed into an important member of the side. Therefore, the likelihood of Fiorentina wanting to sell doesn’t look especially high.
Valero was previously at West Brom for three largely forgettable years in which he spent most of his time out on loan to Mallorca and then Villarreal. At the end of that spell, he earned his only full international cap – coming on as a second half sub for Spain against the USA.
Clearly Valero is a much better player than the one that spent three uneventful years at the Hawthorns but unlike some of those linked with Spurs in the last few weeks, his club aren’t likely to make him available in the summer window.
