The name of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has appeared in these pages before with rumours of a Spurs bid for the Gabon international first materialising about a month ago. Like most stories involving striker targets, there didn’t seem to be too much substance to it but as the summer transfer window draws ever closer, the player’s agent has claimed definite interest from Tottenham and others.

“There are a couple of clubs in the Bundesliga and there is interest from Newcastle and Tottenham,” said Oscar Damiani.

“And I know for certain that Manchester City and Arsenal watch him constantly.”

Aubameyang is an interesting player and clearly a good prospect at just 23. He averages just over a goal a game for St Etienne and has improved his overall ratio dramatically since joining the club on a permanent basis in 2011.

Surely this must be the summer when Spurs actively seek new strikers but does Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seem a likely candidate to lead the line at White Hart Lane next season?

  3. Time to sign a proven striker. Not another promising experiment. Not having a proper striker has likely cost us top 4 this year.
