Prior to his transfer from Marseille to QPR in January 2013, Loic Remy was widely tipped for a move to White Hart Lane but as with the vast majority of striker links into the club, this one failed to materialise.

However, just a few short months later and the Frenchman has been proving his value in the Premier League and while Harry Redknapp has said it will be difficult to offload some of Rangers’ flops, it’s clear that Remy is too good a player to be languishing in the second tier of English football next season.

Harry has also said that he considers it will be difficult to keep his striker in the squad.

“I would have thought it would be hard to hang on to Remy. He was someone we were chasing when I was at Spurs,” Redknapp said.

“Every goal he has scored here has been a fantastic goal. He has five goals in seven games.

“Over the season he would get you 20 goals in the Premier League. And a 20-goal-a-year man is going to be hard to hang on to.

“We have to make sure we stay up if we want to keep him. That’s the key, although I haven’t discussed it with him or the owners.”

With the trap door almost fully open, the rumours of Remy leaving Loftus Road are gathering pace but this time around Spurs don’t seem to be getting a mention. Harry’s assessment of Remy bagging 20 a season looks to be spot on so is this one player we should be getting back in the market for?

  1. If we dont make champions league its down to levy again for the second season running we failed to bring a striker in who can score goals, levy tried to do it on the cheap with adebayor and saha last year.
Bottom line is you get what you pay for could have got berbertov for the same price as ade cost he scores goals and can control a ball ade does fuck all.

  2. Levy has to take responsibilty its not AVBs fault theres been the odd mistake but even Fergie makes the odd mistake. AVBs been overacheiving,we’ve been in the top 3 most of the season with a thin squad, no strikers, the squad has been full of harmony and have shown allot of fighting spirit .Levy needs to finish what he started and finish building a quality squad AVB can compete with. You gotta speculate to accumilate or what ever they say. He wouldn’t have to spend on crazy Yaya Toure wages on players just be willing to pay the fees instead of trying to haggle everything . Otherwise Im worried AVB will get fed up and leave.

  3. We will finish fifth with a hardlines story result probably at chelsea.
Yet again levy has failed to sign a striker
Benteke certainly but we dont need one we need two strikers defoe not getting any younger .we also need z winger who will get us 10 goals a year.GAreth BAles great individual brilliance has masked our real problems!

  4. I’m sure Damiao and Benteke are the leading choices in the summer but we may not have the money for both, plus a playmaker like Eriksen or Moutinho. So you can see Levy being attracted to the cheaper option of Remy. The press are talking about £8m for Remy, but there is clear room for Levy to negotiate, especially when you realise we have a 35% sell on fee for Taarabt. Levy might approach QPR and offer £4-5m for Remy, but offer to scrap the sell on clause for Taarabt as part of the deal. Then if you can offload Adebayor for £5m, it effectively costs you nothing.

  5. Remy is a class act, and providing he stays fit, I can see no reason why we couldn’t see him go onto score 20+ goals in the EPL.

Loic has only shown a glimpse of what he is capable of, for QPR, and is the closest thing I’ve see to Thierry Henry. I think he is EXACTLY the type of player we should be looking at.
Quick, driven and technically sound, Remy would offer Spurs a more than adequate replacement for the Defoe, should the club wish to part ways with English International.

Given the right platform, and a strong desire on his part to improve and surpass his peers, I honestly believe Remy could go onto become one of the very best in Europe, let alone the EPL.

  6. Remy is the real deal. But true to form Levy will try to get him on the cheap and miss out then buy another midfielder instead 🙂
