Injury plans take a knock

The injury news was starting to look so positive from a Spurs perspective but as we head towards the weekend and that vital fixture with Manchester City, it seems that we could be without Gareth Bale after all.

For all the blood spinning that the Welshman has endured over the last week or so, the Daily Mail has reported that his recovery is now behind schedule and the more likely date for his return is the 27th of April when we travel to FA Cup finalists Wigan.

Meanwhile, the same report suggests that Aaron Lennon is ‘touch and go’ as the right sided winger also missed training following his recent knee issue.

With Younes Kaboul limping out of his most recent Under 21 comeback, it seems that at least three of the four players expected to return to the squad will be missing from the squad that faces Manchester City this week. Only Jermain Defoe is now likely to be available.

  1. Not a lot we can do we just have to stick with adebayor not happy with that but what else can we do he just needs to be told by AVB stay in the middle stop keep wandering out on the wings.
If we fail to make top four its down to levy again failing to buy in the jan window for the second season running.

Could have had remy or berbertov both better than adebayor by a country mile

  2. What pisses me off about this lack of cover is simply that we had a very capable man to cover both left and right side in andros Townsend and we loaned him out. The mind boggles. We have no cover for the right side and it’s simply bad management to let him go. The situation with the strikers is simply that we have not found the 25 million plus youthful player who can play up top on his own and wants to join us. Ade has been that man and unfortunately this year he has not scored the goals so far. He can still redeem himself and he has showed massive improvement in the last month. He can be the man this weekend. AVB has clearly got his arm around him recently and I’m backing him as an anytime goalscorer against his old team.

  3. City and United? OK – our squad just doesn’t cut it. Now compare us with our direct competitors in town, Chelsea and Arsenal. We just don’t have the depth to challenge adequately. I’m so tired of this razor thin depth. Chelsea have two in form strikers, and literally an army of young attacking mids. Arsenal’s forwards may not be consistent, but on any given day they can ride the hot hand of one of Walcott, Podolski, Giroud, and then they have a generous offering for CAM of Wilshere, Cazorla and Rosicky. We have Defoe and an out of form waste of space, Ade. Not only that, but we don’t have an adequate CAM at the moment. How can this be!?! I give AVB lots of credit with what he’s done so far. Yes, the grass is not greener on the other side all the time, but coming from Chelsea, I know he knows he is limited here at the Lane. If he wanted a player at Chelsea, they would have made an honest effort to get him. At Arsenal, atleast they would entertain it as well (thank you Wenger for being cheap). Here at the Lane? I wonder if we are really owned by a Billionaire. I’m glad that we work within our means, but we have to be more ambitious. Getting an aging American, and suddenly impotent striker is not good enough when stacked with good purchases like Jan and Dembele. We can’t afford to miss on our players like Arsenal and Chelsea who can absorb many bad contracts. We simply can’t do that.
