With all the talk about potential new signings at left back this week, it’s been easy to forget that Spurs already have a left sided defender at the club – albeit that Danny Rose has spent the entire season on loan at the Stadium of Light.
Rose enjoyed some positive comments when Martin O’Neill was in charge of the club but a change of manager can always change perspective in both camps.
Whatever happens, it’s clear that the player has a big decision to make in the summer but for now, he’s only concentrating on ensuring Premiership Survival in the North East.
“I have thought about my future,” Rose told the local press.
“When Martin O’Neill was here we did speak briefly. Obviously, that’s changed now and it’s not the time for me to go speaking to the new manager about what he wants for next season.
“The main priority now is to have Premier League status for next year. Once that’s sorted, once we’re safe, I’m sure there’ll be a conversation to be had.”
However, Danny did admit that he has already decided on his preference.
“I know what I want to do next year, and we’ll just see what happens.”
Surely that would suggest a permanent move away from White Hart Lane but would it be a mistake to let him go?
Let him go – he’s not good enough for Spurs aspirations.
Correct, Keep Benny until Zeki is ready. Save the money and invest it at the other end of the pitch.
Fryers is miles off even championship level. He’s one of the poorer players in the U21 squad.
100% right Zeki is a punt and was brought in because we don’t have a left sided defender at the u21 level.
He’s much much better than BAE and a lot better defender then Walker on the other side.
Keep him here. He can play both positions on the left in is a natural replacement for Bale should he be unfit from time to time.
I’m sure he’d want to stay at the lane if he is first choice. If VB wants him, he’ll stay. I would like to see him be our #1 lb. There seems little point scouring around for another lb when we have a perfectly decent option in Rose.
Not for the right money – he has never quite made at spurs – I’d wish him well too!!
How do you know? When has he played? He’s been excellent for a Sunderland this season and was the Olympic teams best player. Hes certainly a lot better than the cabbage, BAE, we’ve had the last couple of years.
I’m a Sunderland supporter and rose has been our player of the season i would love to keep him and the signs are he wants to stay I know spurs and Sunderland are at different ends of the table but from what I’ve seen from spurs yous are struggling in the left back position and yous would be mad to let him go
We can’t let him go BAE looks uninterested and Naughtons a utility player, Rose had been excellent at Sunderland and deserves a chance to make the left back spot his own!
