Tom Huddlestone has very much been Tottenham’s forgotten man in this campaign and after two seasons plagued by injury, the midfielder has found opportunities hard to come by this season. However, Tom has had a positive impact in our last two games against Manchester City and Wigan and fans’ comments suggest that many have made him their Man of the Match from Saturday’s fixture.

Meanwhile, Huddlestone’s performances have also caught the attention of the club’s head coach Andre Villas-Boas.

“With performances like this he is able to get more chances – definitely,” AVB is quoted as saying.

The player himself has also hinted at Andre’s assurances and there is a comparison here with Michael Dawson. Both men looked set to leave at the end of the August transfer window but in Daws’ case, he won the manager over to become a regular in the starting XI.

Could the same thing happen with Tom Huddlestone?

  1. Spurs played at a very slow tempo against Wigan. Was this a consequence of Huddlestone playing in the side? He did make some good passes but does he fit with the team.

Is this team really playing like one? It seems to be more about individuals slotting in and not fitting. Spurs did not play like a team against Wigan. Holtby was out of position (should be a deep defensive midfield player), Dempsey contributed little on the left wing. Sigurdsson is always played out of position. And now even Scott Parker is playing a different role (last season he was effective just in front of the back four).

Tom Carroll is one individual who could bring this team together. He not only passes the ball superbly but also runs forward into the right spaces with the ball and has the eye for goal scoring opportunities. Why he hasn’t been given a run in the first team is beyond belief.

  2. i agree with others both the toms ( Hudd & carrow) should be given chances to show their skills. My best xi, hugo lorris Walker,Vert, Dawson, BAE, Hudd, Dembele,Hotby,Lennon, , Bale,Defoe.Defoe is a shape striker he just need more balls on his right foot.Hudd has to be playing if tottenham is to finish on top four.Raymond from ZAMBIA

  3. The Hudd deserves his chance ahead of Parker, who has been awful going forward this season and cancels out all the good work he does defensively. Bale would benefit hugely from his through-balls, as would Defoe. I’d like us to push our wingers further forward with Bale and Lennon either side of Defoe and cutting inside as much as bombing down the wing, occasionally switching sides when they’re getting no joy too.

  4. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this
is magnificent blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.

  5. Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my
iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can
be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now broken and she
has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
