It’s always a decent result when any side takes a point away from Stamford Bridge but with chances to bury the game after Gylfi’s late equaliser, fans will be despondent this morning after Spurs failed the land the win that they really needed.
It still keeps us in touch with the top four – we are now just a point behind Arsenal – having now caught up in terms of games – and head coach Andre Villas-Boas is expecting some more twists in the plot before the season finally ends in ten days’ time.
“We have to do our job and hope that somebody else slips up. The Premier League is absolutely unpredictable and hopefully it can fall our way. Keep the faith. Anything can happen,” Andre said.
“The Premier League is completely unpredictable. The next fixtures can be decisive.”
AVB also praised the character of the side as they battled back to earn a point.
“It was good to get the point,” he added.” I’m extremely happy how the boys played in the second half. We showed the character that has united us during the season.”
So next up for us is an away game at Stoke on Sunday and with Arsenal set to host Wigan the following Tuesday, it’s simply a ‘must win’.
Barf! Now we have to hope for Wigan and Newcastle?
Actually, we have to hope for Wigan and Newcastle AND we have to hope that Spurs play a full 90 minutes for both their games — that hasn’t occured in a while.
My head has been spinning every year for the past 5 years. Either lets be great, or lets just suck again. I was so much better off knowing we’d hit safety or top half, but getting this close to true prestige and never attaining it has made me reconsider football lol. I just don’t have the stomach for it as a Spurs supporter, and I will never root for a big club like United or Arsenal, even if they aren’t like City or Chelsea. Spurs for life! but oh dear.
