We’ve seen a stream of rumours connecting Spurs with a bid for Atletico Mineiro’s Bernard but the man who many were comparing to Mario Gotze could end up being the Bayern bound midfielder’s replacement next season.
While it’s believed that Tottenham are maintaining an interest in the 20 year old, Borussia Dortmund are also linked as they look to fill the gap left by Gotze ahead of the new campaign. Rumours of a move to Germany have also been enhanced by comments made by his international team mate Dante, who plays at centre back for Bayern Munich.
“I talked a bit with Bernard and I explained the philosophy of this country. He is a talented boy who will adapt to Germany,” Dante said.
“If that is his desire then I hope he will do it. I gave him some tips.
“He may not have a physique like many other players but he is a player who would suit Borussia Dortmund’s style of play.”
Earlier reports claimed that the player would be made available by the club at a fee in the region of £15m so it seems as if Bernard will definitely leave Brazil but would he be able to resist the lure of the Bundesliga – and Champions League football – to sign on at Spurs?
