Skipper’s eyes on crucial early fixture

by Matthew Harris on June 21, 2013

The fixture list for 2013-14 handed Spurs two London Derbies in our opening three matches and while Crystal Palace away should offer a test on the first day of the season, the away game with Arsenal in week three is already being talked about some two months ahead of schedule.

The draw hasn’t escaped the notice of club captain Michael Dawson who is looking for a distinct improvement on our previous two trips to the Emirates – both of which finished with an identical 5-2 win in favour of the home side.

“We know what that game means to everyone,” said Michael on the club’s Official Website. “The Emirates hasn’t been great for us recently but that’s history now, hopefully we’ll go there early in the season and get a positive result.”

Turning back to the curtain raiser with Palace, Daws added.

“They weren’t in the best of form but turned that around with a win just before the play-offs and carried that momentum into the play-offs.

“I’m sure they will be looking forward to their first match back in the Premier League after a few years away.”

The countdown continues but do you feel it’s best to get Arsenal away over and done with early doors – irrespective of the result?
