A few days ago you could have secured a price of 10/1 on Tom Huddlestone signing for Sunderland this summer but that figure has dropped considerably in the wake of speculation over the midfielder’s future.

Tom returned from a long term injury at the start of the previous campaign but rarely had a chance to impress Andre Villas-Boas until injuries among the squad gave the midfielder an opportunity towards the end of the season.

Thudd was, however, impressive in some of those appearances prompting AVB to declare that he hoped the 26 year old would stay at the club.

“So it is difficult to break into the team. But with performances like this he is able to get more chances, definitely,” Andre said after the Wigan game in April.

However, at this stage of the player’s career it seems that he is desperate for a move that would virtually guarantee a starting place on a regular basis. Fulham and newly promoted Hull are also thought to be interested in Tom’s signature but Sunderland have emerged as front runners for the deal that would close a very frustrating finish to his Spurs career.

  1. Of course he should! He has had his chance at Spurs and blown it. Unfortunately he is a skilful player who just doesnt have any pace or acceleration. The coaching staff at Spurs just couldnt figure out where to play him- in midfield he gets bypassed too easily and even in central defence-where spurs tried to use him-you have to be razor sharp to stop modern day forwards! He was on the list at the start of the season. Icouldnt see any sense in AVB giving him so many games! I will be delighted if Paulinho arrives. He should make a terrific midfieljd axis with Sandro.Hope he is fully fit.

  2. Cracking player, not seen someone able to strike a ball as well has him for a long time.

Unfortunately he’s not mobile enough for the EPL and needs to move on.

  3. Rather keep him than Livermore or Parker fuck me they have no technical ability and their supposed work rate is not could enough football has moved on you have a combination of technique and power which we will have with dembele Sandro and paulihno and with hudd and Carroll as back up they are very good squad players we need a good squad and hudd is a very good player to have as back up he will play quite a few games next season due to our cup commitments as well

  4. I love the incredible hudd but I fear there won’t be enough game time for him with carrol, gilfy, dembele, sandro, holtby, and hopefully paulinho all in there? Maybe we will loan out carrol if we keep hudd?

  5. Tom most skilful out there when you u come on pitch all the best if you do go / But remember PARK LANE chant OH Tommy Tommy / Where ever you go will always look out for your performance , i am sure if fit should and will be reguarly playing for your country
