While Tottenham continue to miss out on striking targets, the media’s attention has switched to wingers and after the Jese Rodriguez rumour continues to appear in the press, it’s also being claimed that the club are turning their attention to FC Twente’s Belgian International Nacer Chadli.
In fact, some reports are going a stage further by claiming that Spurs have tabled a bid in the region of £7m for the 23 year old. Chadli has just one year left on his contract so has hit that vulnerable stage where his current employers need to make a decision on his future and Tottenham are just one of at least six clubs to be linked with his signature.
Predominantly a left winger, Chadli is said to be comfortable on either flank and aside from having a good record of assists in Holland, he scores his share of goals at the same time. Currently, the player has 21 goals in 80 league matches for Twente and has maintained that record throughout his career.
He is also a rare dual international having represented Morocco in a friendly in 2010 before switching allegiance to Belgium, for whom he has won 14 caps to date.
Nacer Chadli is an impressive player but looking at his stats will £7m really be enough?
