Spurs enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as the side breezed past hosts South China by six goals to nil in Saturday’s Asia Trophy play off. The result was never really in doubt and as Andre Villas-Boas’ men escaped the worst of the weather, it seems we have also escaped the match without any further injuries to the squad.

An own goal from a Danny Rose cross opened the scoring in the first half before Clint Dempsey doubled the lead with a tap in from a Defoe pass. JD himself had come close on at least two occasions before he added the third from a loose ball that followed a Kyle Walker free kick.

After the break, Jermain added his second following a goalkeeper error as Danny Rose played a neat through ball before the striker completed his hat trick shortly afterwards.

As the torrential rain returned, Andros Townsend rounded things off with a well taken free kick into the bottom left corner.

It was only a friendly against weak opposition but it was nice to see the goals raining in for once. Spurs now leave Hong Kong and next on the schedule is a trip to Monaco a week today.
