The Willian transfer may be dead but Tottenham’s pursuit of Erik Lamela intensifies with claims that a £30m+ deal for the Argentine international could be announced within the next 24 hours. Overall, the press have subdued this one amidst the latest Bale Frenzy but signs over the weekend suggest that the Roma forward is on his way out of Serie A.

At the weekend, Lamela was left out of the Roma staring XI that faced Livorno while reports yesterday claim that the Italian club have already lined up Fiorentina’s Adem Ljajic as his replacement.

Late on Monday evening, more reports came in suggesting that a fee had been agreed between Spurs and Roma although no-one could decide what that was. Goal.com led with two identical headlines within an hour of each other – one claiming 30 million euros and the other 35 million.

Whatever the final figure may be, it looks as if Erik Lamela is the man to come in this week with further stories claiming that Bale will be allowed to leave once that deal is done.

  1. Can anyone confirm Arsenal’s interest in Adem Llajic (Roma’s intended replacement for Erik Lamela) ? Could have a bearing on the Lamela transfer…

  2. I have been saying all along this is how the Bale deal would go down SPurs wont sell till his replacement is in the door, If Willian had signed last week then Bale would be a Madrid player already. Its not an easy job to replace Bale but Lamela looks like the player to do it young skilfull and hungry for success so he will be a great addition to our team along with the emerging Townsend I think the left side is truly sorted with this deal. So Gareth thanks for the memorys and good luck. But everyone be sure the Spurs will live on bigger and better COYS
