Having lost out on Willian the Brazilian, Spurs are reported to be heading over to Italy where Lazio midfielder and fellow Brazilian international Hernanes is said to be catching their eye. The 28 year old has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the past – around the same time that Oscar headed to Stamford Bridge – but it’s claimed that Spurs’ interest has intensified as they look for a Willian alternative.

According to Talksport, the player’s delay in signing a new deal in Rome has alerted several clubs across Europe, with Tottenham on pole according to some reports.

Looking at the comparative records means that those who felt we dodged a bullet when missing out on Willian will feel vindicated when they consider Hernanes’ stats.

At 28, Hernanes is three years older than his compatriot but his goals to game ratio approaches one in three, as opposed to Willian’s one in seven. Our new target has also caught the eye of the national team on a more regular basis, having won 17 international caps to Willian’s two.

And he should come cheaper as well, but if Spurs do land Hernanes then Chelsea may just have done us a favour.

  1. Look Willian is a special player, you will all see that when he turns out for Chelsea but that doesnt mean he is the best option out there, Lamela is a Bale replacement, Willian is a completely different player…….Lamela is a necessity

If we want something potentially better than Willian then we have to go for Erikson….he is the best option available, I cant even begin to think of anyone any better as a reasonable age as a #10……..we need our version of a Cazorla, Mata, Isco, Silva….thats the only thing our beastly side doesnt have

  2. Where’s these stats then?
Comparing two number tens just on their goal scoring record is a bit naive don’t ya think?
I’d like to see pass completion rate, assists and chances created and what ever other relevant stats could be used to effectively compare two creative midfielders!
This seems more like wishful thinking and my Mum always told me “Wish in one hand and shit in the other then see which one gets full first!”

  3. This guy would only be a good signing if he comes at the right price around 12 million is where i think we should be looking. But in truth we could add 2 million on to that and get Eriksen he is 21 and a much more Levy minded player dont you think? In truth we just need to get the 2 deals in the pipeline done and dusted before we get swindled again Lamela will be a top player and he can defo play the #10 role quite comfortably if we dont get the other targets. Also Chiches is a must we are short in the centre of defence every team needs 4 CB to be able to challenge for anything so get these 2 and lets see where we are after that. Oh and I think everyone is forgetting Levy’s favourite day of the year DEADLINE DAY who knows what cards Levy has up his sleeve COYS

  4. I wasn’t ever sold on Willian and I’m not sold on Hernanes either – neither look like £30m players to me and I’m not convinced either have particularly good goals or assists records. From what I’ve heard they also both have a tendency to go missing in games.

For me, forget both and go for Lamela and Eriksen – younger, cheaper, and both have better stats.

  5. Eriksen is not a PL player. I am Danish and have therefore followed him intensely. As he is one of our national teams best players.
He is not strong enough and will get pushed off the ball to easily.
Having said that. Our team (hopefly including Lamela) looks the strongest I have ever seen. I am 42 and have seen a few ups. Allan Nielsen (Danish) scoring the Winner in the League cup final. As sad as that may sound.

But this year, I see s as genuin title contenders……………

  6. Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues
with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I
ended up losing a few months of hard work due to no data
backup. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?
