There was shock at TottenhamBlog as our predicted starting XI came within three names of being 100% accurate for tonight’s Europa League Cup tie with Anzhi. The only conflict was in defence where Zeki Fryers starts along with Younes Kaboul while Hugo LLoris is preferred to Brad Friedel in goal.

The full starting line up reads,

Lloris; Walker, Fryers, Kaboul, Chiriches; Sandro, Dembele, Lamela, Chadli, Holtby; Defoe

And on the bench tonight are,

Friedel, Dawson, Naughton, Sigurdsson, Soldado, Kane, Eriksen

What are your thoughts and predictions for the game? Are you happy with the starting XI?

  1. why da fuck can’t avb try holtby & eriksen 2 play 2geder in dat central midfield…. dis mit b da answer 2 soldado not getting enof services… it s worth a try in da Europa league group stages atleast…

  2. I was one away! – I had Naughton instead of Walker,. oh well!

I am happy with the line up, but, I would have liked to see Kane start, but I had a feeling AVB would start slightly stronger due to the up-coming International break. COYS.

  3. Mahi, have a day off mate! No we aren’t scoring enough in the premier league but it’s very early days and basically all of our attacking players are new – not just to the team but to the league as well – and we have still created among the most chances in the PL so far (according to OPTA). We’ll soon start banging them in – in fact I’m convinced we’re building up to give someone a good hiding, and I have a sneaky feeling it’ll be West Ham on Sunday!

However, I do agree that we could try resting Dembele and starting Holtby and Eriksen at some point. No point tiring Eriksen out against Anzi but we have some very winnable home games coming up and it might be worth trying that instead of Dembele for one of them.
