Aaron Lennon returned to first team training yesterday for the first time since picking up a foot injury against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season. Aaron gets plenty of criticism for the delivery of his final ball but many Spurs fans will be pleased at the news, and they’ve been joined by the head coach Andre Villas-Boas.
“I’m extremely happy,” AVB is quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“It’s been a long time out for a player of Aaron’s importance and the team is delighted with his return.
“He’s proved year after year how important he is for us and to have him back is a major plus.”
Andre was then asked if the winger would be available for the Aston Villa game on 20th October.
“Let’s see how he works on the international break,” he added.
“Azza has kept his fitness very high with our medical department.”
It’s a crowded midfield at White Hart Lane but AVB’s comments suggest that he will put the right winger straight back into the side if he is 100%. Does he deserve an immediate starting slot and will his return answer some of our issues going forward?
At the very least it replinishes our depth, with this harrying fixture schedule he surely will be put to good use. Certainly will help Spurs stretch the width of the pitch, would like to see him on the right and Andros on the left.
Thank god he is back we have missed is speed on the flank just having Andros left us flying with one win unbalance. But what would make a massive different is Lennon’s tracking back something never gets a mention. Time after time he covers Walker when he goes forward and we lose the ball there is a big gap but Arron covers this admirably. I truly believe if he had played against West Ham overachiever we would not have conceded two of the three goals. We have to ditch this high line where we condensing Teams in there own half. What this does is we have to negotiate 11 players blocking the goal we also get sucked in and hit on the break.

Yes In my opinon we need pace and aaron lennon has bags of pace and experience the tempo build up for Tottenham on attacks currenlty is way to slow given team way to much time to recover AVB will have the advantage of possibly playing Townsend on the left and Aaron Lennon on the right in certain games in which we need to hit teams on the break fast.
Whilst slowing introducing at times Erik Lamela & Nacer Chadli into games so they can adapt more to the English league , make no mistake the 7 players brought in this summmer are top quality signings !!
