Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Everton means that Spurs have now conceded just five times in the league all season – a record that would look even better without that aberration against West Ham. However, that run was lost on most of the social media commentators as the club drew a blank at the top end of the pitch.
In ten Premier League matches, we have scored nine times but that statistic isn’t concerning Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas who is happy with the number of chances his team are creating.
“The team is creating more chances and more shots. I carry on about all the good statistics and others about all the negative, and there will be debate,” AVB said.
“I don’t think it is dramatic. We are on 30 goals in 17 games and it is the second-highest ever at the club, so I don’t worry about that.”
The manager went on to defend his squad and pointed to our best start in the top flight for many years.
“We are the team that creates more opportunities in the Premier League, we have more shots. Hull are sitting tenth and we are fourth,” he added.
“The chances are coming and sometimes they go your way and the opponent is not there to stop it. At the moment it is results that have put us in fourth and one of the spots in the Champions League. You can have more goals, less goals. We all want excitement, but right now the team is doing extremely well.”
Are you concerned at the lack of goals in the Premier League this season or do you think it’s only a matter of time before they come?
I’m more concerned by AVB’s stubbornness and deluded statement. Also, the fact he keeps playing Left footers on the right and right footers on the left. His refusal to give Adebayor a chance to prove himself and see if a partnership with Soldado could work concerns me too. Yeah, we’re 4th, but for how long?
Me to dont think avb has got a clue at times I think after the chelsea business he is scared to try new things.
But we better on counter attak not position squad will extermly well but not on box to box attaking stats no one triky passes one two paases
We’re playing pretty boring defensive stuff with little attacking flair. How many times do our CBs pass it sideways to each other..yawn f’ing yawn.
Yes, we control the middle of the park but neither Soldado nor Defoe can hold up the ball well enough to make 4-3-3 work properly. Adebayor is probably our only striker that can.
Eriksen & Siggy is a more productive combo than Holtby & Lennon. Stick with that pls. And at least try Lamela from the start instead of Townsend
akshayaalase – WTF?
I agree with most, play right wingers on the right and lefties on the left! If you play Soldado or Defoe on their own you must have 2 attack minded midfielders, ie Eriksen and Gylfi/Lamela! Or try Adebayor on his own;with Soldado as a 4-1-3-2 Formation! Even, after the Hull game, Kane is worth a shout as a bigger forward!
NO WIDTH IN THE SIDE AS BOTH WINGERS CUT IN NOT ONCE DURING THE EVERTON GAME DID AVB SWITCH THEM TO THERE NATURAL SIDE VERY STRANGE WE ARE HARD TO BEAT BUT ARE OVER PASSING WITH NO PACE AT ALL, BUT I THINK WILL JUST HAVE TO GET USE TO IT WITH 2 BRAZILIANS IN THE MIDDLE THAT IS THERE STYLE.
CANT FAR THE LIFE OFF ME SEE WHAT HOLTBY BRINGS TO THE TABLE.
FEELING SORRY FOR SOLDADO THE SERVICE TO HIM IS SHIT NEED TO TRY TOWNSEND LEFT AND LENNON RIGHT AND BRING ERIKSON IN
