Earlier today we looked at the continuing issues at left back and the comments made by current incumbent Jan Vertonghen. The Belgian seems happy to cover for his club but clearly feels his best position is at centre back and that could see Andre Villas-Boas head into the transfer market when the window reopens in January.

Fabio Coentrao is a name that we’ve seen many times in the media and the 25 year old Portuguese international remains in the frame if Tottenham do look to solve this problem by acquiring a recognised full back.

The versatile Coentrao is certainly out of favour at Real Madrid where he has started only three games this season but wages of £100,000 a week could clearly be an issue. That’s probably why the Evening Standard are suggesting a loan deal from January to the end of the season while Villas-Boas looks towards a permanent solution in this problem position.

Looking long term, AVB may well be hoping for Danny Rose to make the left back slot his own with Zeki Fryers as his understudy but as temporary solutions go, Fabio Coentrao may not be the worst fix.

  1. Ive said it recently, I think he was clearly one of our main targets in the summer! – A real shame we didnt get him, as I think we would be much nearer to the finished article.

Were really not that far away, but it will take until christmas to bed-in ALL 8 NEW PLAYERS! (Im including Townsend in that to make 8 as he is essentially a new signing)

Youc ould go further still, and say that, as Kaboom and Sandro weer out for half of last year they are new to the whole set up too! –

I think the final words on the matter of our form, and the concenr over our goal tally is…

    PATIENCE & FAITH.

PLEASE HAVE BOTH OF THESE EVERYONE!!!! –

IF THIS IS WHAT THE BULLSHIT PAPERS & MORONIC SKY PUNDITS CONSIDER A BAD SPELL, WHAT WILL BE LIKE WHEN THE LADS CLICK AND START GELLING TOGETHER?!?!?!?!?!

    IT WILL BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LAST ITME I CHECKED WE ARE 4TH AT A CANTER,. If AVB can just sort his wingers & FB’s out we will be laughing!!! – KEEP THE FAITH!! – KEEP SMILING!! – WE ARE SO BLOODY OBVIOUSLY ON THE UP!!!! – ENJOY IT!!!

    COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    • I too am hoping that things will work out soon. Last season we were crying out for an out and out forward..in the box type of forward . Now that we have got one, we now turn full time with the inverted winger stuff and thus have no need for a Soldado type of striker.
I wonder if we do try out the ‘ conventional ‘ winger system of play during training. If we don’t, then there is no way we could change the way we are playing now, if things still do not work out during a game.

  2. Man, I just got done watching the Champions League games this week, and I have to say… WE NEED IN!!! I don’t even need to have us be called a top club anymore, I just want Tottenham to finally play in the Champions League again.
