Spurs’ existing Argentine winger Erik Lamela continues to frustrate as he beds in to life at White Hart Lane but as our record signing struggles, there is talk of Tottenham going back into the transfer market for a more experienced compatriot.

Diego Perotti is 25 and currently at Sevilla, having spent more than four years at the club. The player is a left winger / attacking midfielder but a modest scoring record of 16 goals in 155 league appearances might suggest he isn’t what we need.

Perotti has been capped twice by Argentina and the rumours began when he declared himself open to a move into the Premier League.

“A transfer is definitely possible in the winter market,’ he said.

“I’ve not been playing well recently and I need to find my best form, but something could happen.”

Reports claim that Perotti could be available for as little as £8m but can he really make a difference to current issues at White Hart Lane?
