There is some confirmed news about the extent of Jan Vertonghen’s injury and it aint good. Reports suggest that the Belgian international could be out for up to a month after picking up an ankle injury in last week’s win over Fulham and that could expose all the old issues over the left back position.
Meanwhile, it’s all very quiet over Danny Rose with one isolated report suggesting that the defender may just be ready for Thursday night’s tie against Anzhi in the Europa League. If he comes through that, Rose is likely to remain in the problem slot for Sunday’s vital game with Liverpool.
Alternatively, it looks as if Spurs will be sticking with Kyle Naughton on the left of defence until either Jan or Danny is fit enough to return. With Vertonghen potentially out of action until the New Year, surely that would be the catalyst needed for the club to head into January’s transfer market for a permanent solution?
