Recalling Emmanuel Adebayor to the starting line up has been Tim Sherwood’s best move so far in terms of goals, points and for stating his case to be the next Spurs manager. The Togolese striker – frozen out under AVB – came in from the cold and has three goals in two games heading into the crucial Christmas period.
Two of those strikes have been quite stunning, a fact not lost on the interim boss. Commenting on the first goal at St Mary’s Sherwood said,
“It was like a Go-Go Gadget leg! I saw it hit the net and it was a great feeling. He’s a top player.”
To be fair to Andre Villas-Boas, 2012-13 was a dismal season for the centre forward – eight goals in 33 games and at times he just didn’t look interested. However, if Ade stays fit, in form and interested then we might not have to write this campaign off after all.
Please do not trust either of these men to undertake a long-term revival …….. Adeboyar will blow cold as quickly as he will hot; Sherwood is devious, ill-informed and performing after two games at a lower rate of achievement than AVB. Neither performance so far has been impressive. Go for a proven and experienced manager with a reputation for good fat paced attacking AND adaptability. THAT BTW is neither Sherwood NOR Hoddle.

Still plenty to play for the season we are only six point from Liverpool which is nothing , ” less the league cup ” , but we are still for still in the running in the other competitions for a cup a least or a spot for champions league !!

In my view, the thing that will stand out in Tim’s CV will be his knowledge and willingness to bud in the youth team players who are ready to step up into the 1st team. In that regard, the biggest plus for Tim in the Saints game was the introduction of the impressive Nabil Bentaleb for Dembele in the 2nd half.
Blooding youth this season is a waste of time. We have a big squad of internationals what do think will happen to team spirit it they ride the bench and see teenagers play ahead of them???
I have little faith in Tim’s team. Against stronger teams, I would fearing the outcome. Adebayor on his day is world class. Everytime Spurs faced teams with Ade in the line-up, I hid behind the sofa. Unfortunately, those days are extremely rare. I await with eager anticipation to see which Manu will wear the shirt on the next Spurs game.
TS has one big bonus over most other prospective Spurs coaches, he knows the youth squad better than anybody else, as seen when he introduced Benteleb at St Mary’s. But that is just about it. Nothing in the cupboard, except he is a gooner!
Sherwood is the spitting image of Jeremy Renner and yesterday he climbed out of the stands just like Renner climbed over the mountain in Bourne Legacy. Lamela made the pass before the pass setting up Soldado’s cross to Ade. This is a turning point for Lamela and he is ready to start contributing. Under Sherwood’s reign it will be known as White Hurt Lane. COYS!
