3-0 represents our biggest league win of the season – a pretty incredible statistic for any Spurs team at the half way stage of the campaign. Stoke were far from their battling best but once Roberto Soldado had broken the nervous deadlock on 37 minutes, it always looked as if there would only be one winner.

Spectacular efforts from Mousa Dembele and Aaron Lennon sealed the three points and Head Coach Tim Sherwood took plenty of positives from the match as a whole.

“I thought we were excellent from start to finish and I’m really pleased with the performance,” said Sherwood on the club’s official website.

Tim gave praise to a number of players, including the new full back pairing of Naughton and Fryers.

“Individually, there were some outstanding displays. Paulinho was immense in the centre of the pitch with Mousa Dembele, Zeki Fryers came in for his full debut and was excellent and Kyle Naughton didn’t put a foot wrong.

“We deserved to win on Boxing Day and we could have been sitting here with nine points from three games. It was great to get that home win as well, that was really important.

“It’s great to play well, win the game and it could have been more. We’re all delighted.”

Maximum points from three games would have been a welcome start to Tim Sherwood’s tenure but as it is, our former midfielder is unbeaten in the league. However, the big test will undoubtedly come on New Year’s Day when we visit Old Trafford – a ground where we did take all three points in 2012-13.
