One area where we didn’t seem to need too much in the way of strengthening was in central defence and despite losing Steven Caulker in the summer, the arrival of Vlad Chiriches more than filled that particular gap.

With Dawson, Chiriches, Vertonghen and Kaboul, Andre Villas-Boas had plenty of options at the start of the campaign but there is continuing concern over Younes who in the last three years has turned into the new Jonathan Woodgate.

Therefore, it’s maybe not all that surprising to see Spurs linked with a move for Manchester City outcast Joleon Lescott. He’s been around a while but the defender is still only 21 and having made just 7 Premier League appearances this season, January could see him out of the exit door.

With Dawson, Chriches, Vertonghen fit and the left back berth filled, it’s hard to see a player such as Lescott getting any more game time than he does right now. However, with long term issues over Kaboul, is this as bad a link as it first seems?

  1. Lescott isn’t the best CB in the PL but Spurs’ need is greater at the moment with continued concerns over Kaboul and Vertonghen out injured, Lescott more than fits the bill, he’s even FRACTIONALLY quicker than Dawson (which could be useful considering Spurs’ “sweeper-keeper” style) and pops up with the odd goal from set pieces…

  2. Lescott is a brave whole hearted defender and would be a good addition to the squad. We also have a talented younster at cb,milos veljovic is only 19 but may be ready for some game tome, especilly in the europa league. Coys.

  3. I think if we could get him til the end of the season it would be a good deal. I remember him playing a lot of games at Everton as a lb and looking very compertant in doing so. This would give rose the kiss up the ass he needs as he knows he’s under no pressure for his spot. Would also make us a more aerial threat on set pieces and of corse better at defending them also.
