As Spurs’ sides frequently found at the start of the season, possession means little if you can’t convert it and Swansea discovered that to their cost on Sunday. The home side edged the game in terms of keeping the ball and getting shots on goal but head coach Tim Sherwood identified our greater quality as the reason behind a comfortable win.

“We didn’t have a shot on target until we scored but I always thought we were a massive threat,” said Sherwood on the club’s official website.

“We just needed to find that final ball, get our schemers on the ball in the final third and make that final pass, make it tell. We did that for an hour, we were excellent.

“It took a while get used to how they play. They do play differently, give credit to them, they are brave on the ball and give it to each other when they are marked, you have to give them respect for that.

“But our quality shone through.”

Tim also gave a nod to the travelling support and was quick to play the entertainment card as he completed his sixth straight league game without defeat.

“It was a good performance and the fans were magnificent. I know what they are all about, they want entertainment and that’s what they are getting at the moment,” he added.

The win takes us to fifth for another few hours at least and with a blank weekend ahead, our next game is at home to Manchester City on Wednesday week – the 29th.

  1. How long to the Tim Sherwood for England manager talk starts?

Cant wait to get Jan V, Sandro and Townsend back.

Hopefully all 3 will be back for City.

  2. Great performance, the goal gave us confidence and we were excellent from then on. Still, playing a team like Swansea away was never our problem. Let’s see how we do against teams who come to White Hart Lane to defend.
