According to the press, QPR manager Harry Redknapp is making noises over his loan signing – Spurs midfielder Tom Carroll. There are claims that Tottenham’s new head coach Tim Sherwood is looking to recall the England Under 21 man before the end of this transfer window and Redknapp is urging him to make a quick decision.

“I’m not sure what’s happening,” said Harry.

“It’s up to Tim Sherwood what he wants to do. He likes him an awful lot and has been excellent for us.

“I haven’t spoken to Tim for a week or so, but if he wants to take him back I need to know because we need time to try and find somebody else.

“I wouldn’t want to leave it until the last minute. It’s a difficult time of year to find players.”

Even with a number of injuries, Spurs seem top heavy in midfield so where would Carroll fit in? Another way to look at that is to consider how Nabil Bentaleb has come from nowhere to nail down a first team place. Could Carroll do the same alongside him or is it better for the player’s development if he continues to battle for promotion with QPR?

  1. Not unless we’re letting go of at least two of our midfielders.
He’s getting game time at QPR so let’s leave him there rather than to come back and sit on our bench

  2. I think Carroll is better than Bentaleb from watching him during the developmental squad days

Carroll is doing very well at QPR and when he is in the team they win, he had a period injured and they were losing games

If he played in a team like ours he would excel but only 1 of Bentaleb/Carroll could play as they are too similar

Capoue and Holtby need to go for the best interests of the squad

Therefore a midfield 2 would be battled out between Sandro, Paulinho, Bentaleb, Dembele and Carroll

  3. It’s been sadi why fetch home to sit on the bench. Howvere I do niot see him as like bentlab who is more defensive minded than Tom, I still think he needs to beef up a bit and next season get a loan spell in the prem.

  4. Carroll and Pritchard are Spurs best midfield players by far.

Carroll is wasted in the championship and should be playing in Spurs first team.

    • What is the point of that comment, unless you are actually Tom Carroll. This doesn’t need saying but Bentaleb is much better than Carroll already and is influencing games which Carroll has not done in his similar brief appearances. You would pick every current Tottenham midfield player above him at the moment. Pritchad is quality, but not in the same league as Lennon, Townsend and Lemela.

      • I have never read so much nonsense. Carroll has always looked class in every game he has played for Spurs. He always looks to pass forward and is creative and attack minded. He is miles better than players like Sigurdsson, Chadli, Paulinho, Capoue. Pritchard will be better than Lennon, Townsend and Lamela when he gets into the first team.

  5. Where have u all been getting Carroll has done really well at QPR from haha has been poor and lightweight from what iv seen. Still I reckon he will be back next year in our Europa league squad on Thursday nights

  6. He is too old to go out on another loan next season, he is 22 I think now. He is older than Eriksen which says a lot. He probably will have to join another team where he can play every week.

  7. Guys take him back now please, he’s a lightweight on the ball and passes are not accurate enough for the championship. So if you guys think he’s wasted in the championship fair play and lobby to get him back.

    Cheers SSB

  8. Carroll is our Iniesta always making the diagonal through balls to release forwards and attacking wingers. He already displayed a high work rate and keeps passing the ball accurately in midfield. He will be useful in opening up defensive teams at white hart lane which spurs have had so much difficulties to break. We need to encourage and push forward our home grown talents and Sherwood is so apt at recognising that. Lets bring him back and give him his chance to shine.

  9. No goals, no assists at the R’s.
Honest lad, never hides but at 22 he needs to nail down a first team place somewhere just not Loftus Road I hope.

  10. Toms passing as been wayward. He is very lightweight , so needs to bulk up. Totally agree with SSB ( ALRIGHT BRUV )

  11. He has shown his potential in 2 games this season and he was immense but has been awful the rest of the season. We don’t want an inconstant player costing us points so please take him back.
