Should we be worried over any of the stories doing the rounds concerning moves away for some of our best players? Jan Vertonghen landing in Florence, Hugo Lloris off if we don’t finish in the Champions League places?

The latest report quotes Lloris, who spoke to French television about Tottenham’s chances of qualifying for Europe’s Premier Club competition.

“We’re not at that point yet,” the keeper said.

“We’ll see how things stand at the end of the season – especially as this season is longer with the World Cup.

“The objective first and foremost is to qualify for the Champions League and then, year by year, to get closer to the big guns in our league.”

That’s hardly notice to quit the club if we don’t finish in the top four at the end of May but predictably that’s how some areas of the media are reporting it. Expect even more on this before the end of the week.

  1. If we are to progress Lloris is an integral part of our team. Bring in a young keeper and let Frirdel show him the ropes whilst hes still with us.

  2. Lloris and Vertonghen are probably our two best players. It would be terrible to lose them. Having said that Vertonghen tweeted he was in Florence; why would he do this if he was conducting transfer talks? Lloris was asked a leading question and gave in truth a fairly bland response. I’m not worried yet.
