Spurs played Hull for the third time this season and despite only coming away with a 1-1 draw from the KC Stadium, Tigers’ manager Steve Bruce was impressed by Tottenham’s attacking intent. The reverse fixture produced an attritional 1-0 win thanks to a Roberto Soldado penalty while the Capital One Cup tie at White Hart Lane went to a shoot out after a 2-2 draw.

Taking those three matches into account, Bruce spotted a very different Spurs side under Tim Sherwood.

“They are a totally, totally different team to what we played in the Cup and in the League under AVB.

“Certainly AVB wouldn’t have played like that – two up top. I thought they played four up top really.

“They played the two strikers, they played Lennon high and Eriksen off the front. So Tim’s philosophy is: ‘We’re going to come here and beat you.”

However, Bruce wouldn’t be drawn on whether we were a better team following the change in the dugout.

“Whether they are a better team? I haven’t seen enough of them. I just know they are different.

“Adebayor has got a spark and when he is playing like he is at the moment, I don’t think there is a better number nine so he is a handful, he heads it, he links the play, he can move and the way that they play is totally different.

“Whether they are better, that’s not for me to say,” he concluded.

  1. AVB teams beat Hull City. If we didn’t eke out those 1-0 wins from earlier in the season, we wouldn’t be where we are now. Although there were obvious signs the wheels were loose, atleast we came out with 3pts each of these games.

  2. Levy has made a mess of spurs by chopping and changing managers. However, we have got a young and promising side. This side needs to gel and develop as a unit. What ever happens for the rest of the season, I would like to see Daniel Levy appoint a decent manager as TS is only short term, support him to make this strong young side a good top 4 side by adding one or two quality stirkers and a quality left back. Then please allow this team to play for a couple of years together. Back the manager for at least 2 years.
