It was reported that Andros Townsend had returned to training after seven weeks on the sidlines and it has now been confirmed by Head Coach Tim Sherwood that the winger could be in contention for a return to the side that plays Everton on Sunday.

We’re positive on Andros and he has a chance, he’s up for selection,” said Sherwood after Wednesday’s training session. “He’s champing at the bit to return.”

Meanwhile, the Head Coach has some more positive news on Mousa Dembele’s situation.

“He’s fine. He’s back out training again and he’s in the frame to start against Everton.”

The news gives the club a boost ahead of such a vital fixture but can Tim find room for either man in the starting XI?

  1. That’s good news but a tough team selection. I’d like to see Lennon/Townsend on the wings, Paulinho and Dembele in midfield with Eriksen and Ade up front.

Does anyone know when Sandro is due back? He trained last month?

    • Absolutely spot on dannyspurs. I would play Erickson in the middle of the 5 in a 4-5-1 formation or the 1st 1 in a 4-4-1-1 with Ade up front. I really hope that Sherwood has the courage to play these best 5 available. Some room must also be made for Sandro when he is back. It may result in a shuffle of 1 max 2 every now and then.

      • I totally agree – When the beast is back, then Tim needs to figure out who drops out because for me Sandro, Verts and Ade (on current form) are first on the team sheet.

  2. Dembele is Spurs MOST important player in the current squad, without question…and it showed in the match against Hull where the team lacked both CREATIVITY and DRIVE in central areas. His ball-carrying skills allow those ahead of him to take up positions which would usually be attended to and do their damage.

As far as Andros goes, he brings a whole other dimension to the Spurs attack with his DIRECTNESS, PACE and ABILITY TO CREATE SPACE for his colleagues with his capacity to commit the oppositions players. People such as Eriksen, Chadli, Lennon, Lamela, Sigurdsson, Bentaleb and Dembele SHOULD all benefit from his return to side, given the extra room he will offer them to work in.

Add those two players to the likes of the returning Kaboul, Vertonghen, Paulinho and Sandro, and there is EVERY reason to be optimistic about Spurs prospects in the 2nd half of the season.

    • creativity??? agree with u about dembele but we’ve got a kid that cost 30mil who’s probs more creative than the rest of the squad… he just needs game time. lennon has been shit – no end product.

      • Ramos – I totally agree about being optimistic. There will be points dropped by all and top 4 is still up for grabs.

Gary – Lamela does just need time but for now Townsend will give us another dimension but he MUST only play on the left.

  3. Im looking to meet a nice tall and handsome lad. I’ ve done all the Everton nancy boys and believe me there are plenty but I crave a bit of cockney cock. I realise that there aren’t many homo’s supporting spurs ( Everton is 50% gay) but if one of you is reading this then reply if you fancy some scouse sausage.
