Yesterday’s match report from the 1-0 North London Derby defeat could have easily been plucked from the archives at the time that Spurs were struggling to break down the weaker sides under AVB. Creating chances – dominating possession – it all counts for nothing when you can’t put the ball in the net and we have now scored just once in our last four league games.

After the match, head coach Tim Sherwood said we simply didn’t deserve to come away without a point.

“Anyone who was here at the Lane or watched on TV knows we didn’t deserve to lose and I felt we had enough chances to win it,” said Sherwood on the club’s official website.

“After the start we had, that’s when you need to see character and that’s what we saw.

“I can’t fault the lads’ effort, they were fantastic and the fans were magnificent, they stuck with us throughout.”

Somehow we remain in fifth despite this dismal run but we now have Everton just two points behind with two games in hand. Forget the top four – the battle is on for the Europa League – assuming we want it.

  1. We don’t want or need the Europa League …… it is a poisoned chalice offering us Sunday football, long trips to Eastern Europe, and injuries. If we are not going to make the top four (and how could we, the way we are playing?) we need to get below the 5th spot so we can have the kind of season Liverpool have been able to have. I shouldn’t think that will be too difficult the way presently….. Then some serious rethinking about our squad and some EARLY and well-focussed trading by a new management team. And Levy & Co need to ask themselves whether they are really going to build a new stadium and if they are really serious about our club.

  2. I liked chadli on the middle and eriksen would be good behind ade if our other midfielders run in to the box, both eriksen and chadli can turn with the ball in one touch to make better transistions.

    • Chadli played well, u would think that with stong players such ss dembelee, paulinho, sandro verts, chadli, ade we would score much more goals from set pieces??? I think we would if we had someone to cross the ball with some quality.

  3. They did play better yesterday which was better to see. Verts n kaboullooked better! Knaughton played well as against dnipro!! Lloris u cannot fault as the best keeper we will ever have. Townsend played better but passses back far too often?? Doesnt deliver any good crosses etc… lennon should of been on the right n townsend on the left with eriksen playing in the middle. Eriksen is our best player and need to play to his strengths next season. Sandro is doing much better, bentelab looked out of place and sorts!! But good experience!! Ade did well and played his heart out. Soldado deserves a bit more match time, hes a good striker and deserves the chance. Rose needs nippping in the bud!!!! Literally he only looked good playing for sunderland and that says it all!!! We need a new quality left back who csn cross a ball n defend. Need a left winger, a young centre half such as lascelles. A younger keeper to push lloris such as schmiecal. A striker such as remy with pace!! Milner is also a good addition. Lets also support lamela who im sure given chance will vome goid. He had a lot of shots blocked in early season which was unlucy!! He has skill pace and a finish@! More than townsend n lennon!!! These nee additions and capoue, siggy, dawson, chadli out would easy balance the books. Come on levy dig deep and we will be better next season.

  4. Have not written in the last 4 months. But just have to say that Rose shoud be banned from playing from now onwards. The way he ‘ jogs ‘ back when our attacks break down is simply unforgivable.

    • There manager though is brendan rogers!!! They have balance and width to their team, ours needs tweaking with a definite left back neeeded. We have no one who can cross a ball!!! Neither….

  6. Sherwood’s gonna go for sure. Van Gaal seems the obvious replacement. Not really Tim’s fault given the average players at his disposal. There’s just no penetration, it’s so frustrating to watch, we simply can’t create simple goalscoring opportunities.
    Also, we’re so obvious in what we’re trying to do, no deception at all, everything is so telegraphed and the gameplan is the same as AVB’s. God i want the season to end

    To run every aspect of the clubs.I think he should
    Mange the time,it might as well give the tactic too.
    He is the big problem in the club.(the dictator)

    • i respect your club and most its players, but its fans like you that make me hate certain sections of your fanbase. bring me more people like sympathetic. but you, yours just a bully.

    • End of the day we are fifth in the league above everton and man u. Thats with a team of players that havent gel’d yet?? With tweaking a few new players eg.. left back and tim nice but very tactically dim gone, there remains a lot of hope for next season. Coys

  10. we didn’t deserve to win either. if we can’t put the ball in the back of the net, we deserve no better than a draw. logic it seems?

  12. COME 0N YOU SPURS THURSDAY, THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO HOLD OUR HEAD UP IN THE PUB IN FRONT OF CHELSKY, AND THE GOONERS , I HAVE HAD SOME CRAP FROM THEM LATELY FIGHT LIKE YOU DID IN THE LAST EURO ROUND, IT CAN BE DONE, ( ITS A BIG BIG GAME.)
