Once again, Christian Eriksen delivered a match winning performance for Spurs as the club beat bottom of the table Sunderland on Monday night. The Dane’s deflected second half strike was fully deserved for another impressive all round performance and despite a gloomy end to the season, Eriksen’s displays are one of a few things that give us hope for the next campaign.
After the match, the midfielder reiterated that his future at the club was not dependent on a top four finish.
“Our aim now is to win all our matches so that we end the season with some confidence ahead of next year and if we do that we can see where it takes us in the table,” Christian said after the game.
“For me the feeling I have at the club isn’t dependent on being in the Champions League, I’m happy here and am looking forward to the future.”
The same may not be true for other players such as Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris but as comparisons with Luka Modric came through after last night, the Dane is the key player. Hugo and Jan may well be replaceable but the one man we need ahead of a top four quest in 2014-15 is Christian Eriksen.
Good article modric started at spurs in the same position an look how far he have gone with his football I think eriksen got a lot more to his game than modric, good free kicks ,corners an scores a variety of goals future is bright at the lane
