One of this summer’s most bizarre transfer stories emerged yesterday to suggest that Spurs were ready to offer a complicated swap deal in order to land Sevilla’s left back Alberto Moreno. The 21 year old is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in the country and after playing with his current employers since 2012, Moreno has now made three full appearances for the Spanish national side.

Spurs need a left back and Moreno seems to fit the bill but this unlikely report claims that the club were offering £14m plus Etienne Capoue plus Roberto Soldado on loan. Today, those Sky Sources who seem to be everywhere suggest there is no truth in the rumour and that Spurs simply aren’t interested.

That claim seems to be backed up by Sevilla president Jose Castro who has only mentioned Liverpool in connection with an approach.

It’s true that there’s interest from Liverpool and we’re waiting to see if that turns into a reality, which right now it isn’t,” Castro said.

“Whoever wants to leave can do so, but we’ll be the ones setting the prices.”
