On Monday, Tottenham confirmed that reserve goalkeeper Brad Friedel had signed a new one year contract at the club that would take him beyond his 44th birthday. The American international had proved to be a capable deputy to Hugo LLoris but will he continue to be the club’s number 2 or will the stopper be more involved with his ambassadorial duties?
Before Freidel signed, Spurs had previously been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest’s highly rated 23 year old Karl Darlow and that story has reappeared this morning. Darlow, it is claimed, is good enough to play in the Premier League and may soon have to choose between another promotion campaign with Forest, or a spot on the bench in the elite tier.
With Heurelho Gomes gone, Jordan Archer becomes the third choice, unless Darlow moves across. Should the new head coach pursue this one or are the existing three stoppers sufficient ahead of the new campaign?
We need a young keeper for brad and lloris to nurture…
