The newspapers can’t seem to decide whether Loic Remy or Blerim Dzemaili will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing at Spurs although the Frenchman is still thought to be hankering after a move to Arsenal.

That could leave Spurs in pole position to sign Swiss international Dzemaili but who is he and why do we need him?

The 28 year old currently plays in Serie A with Napoli and as we’ve been linked with virtually their entire squad, he ticks the first box. As a defensive midfielder, he could also be a sound replacement for Sandro, should our Brazilian international head the other way and pursue his career in Italy.

Dzemaili was previously on the books at Bolton Wanderers but injury meant that he didn’t make a single league appearance in that time. That serious knee ligament problem does seem to be behind him however and in his three years at Napoli, he has been an important member of the side.

Spurs fans may get their chance to see the player at Brazil 2014 as he is named in the Swiss squad for the World Cup. However well he plays, it’s unlikely that Dzemaili is another Sandro.

  1. Who is Blerim Dzemaili?

Someone were not going to sign, just the usual media rubbish the press spew when it comes to Tottenham.

So this is another irrelevant atricle.

  2. We need a technical defensive midfielder. The game is all about keeping possession these days and to be technically sound. Sandro is a spoiler.full stop..Technically a bit lacking. You need to able to play with Poch’s system.
if this Blerim has the defensive capabilities and can add technically as well with goals(by the way he has a great shot) then am up for Sandro to be sold. No question.
Sandro aside, We have to many stiffs in the squad who panick once you get anywhere near them. Possession is key with Poch’s system and I can see Poch getting rid of the stiffs in due course(Dawson,Rose,Naughton – There is going to be some Argie Bargie!!)

  3. Let’s buy a couple of decent forwards keep Sandro but knowing how spurs perfome we will buy more rubbish and have a poor season again
