We asked which of our four players would be most impressive in yesterday’s World Cup group H tie between Belgium and Algeria and in the end, it was a tight game between the two. Jan Vertonghen gave away a first half penalty while Nacer Chadli was taken off at half time.

Mousa Dembele followed his international and club team mate to the bench and on 90 minutes, only Jan and Nabil Bentaleb remained on the field. Surprisingly, Vertonghen actually looked good coming forward – comfortable on the ball and linking up well with the left winger as his side eventually edged the contest by two goals to one.

After the match Bentaleb gave his verdict on a fixture where his side battled well before eventually losing out.

“This was a match that we did not deserve to lose,” he said.

“We played one of the favourites of this tournament. Belgium have some fantastic players, some of whom I know very well so I know what they can do. But you also saw what Algeria are capable of.”

With Russia drawing their opening match with South Korea, this looks to be the most open of groups and all of our four players could be featuring in the next round. Who, if anyone, impressed you last night?
