There are a number of reports linking German international Julian Draxler with a move to White Hart Lane doing the rounds but when you look at the figures, the numbers don’t quite add up. The attacking midfielder was believed to have turned down a January move to Arsenal but having completed his domestic campaign with Schalke 04, the 20 year old might well be up for grabs once again.
First issue is that the story emanates from the Metro but the real problem seems to be with the money involved. Back at the start of the year, Arsenal were said to be meeting the player’s buy out clause which is set at around £38m so are Tottenham really going to land Draxler with a bid of less than half that amount?
The Metro’s report goes on to claim that Spurs are offering £17m for the player. Conceivably, with a little extra cash and Lewis Holtby going back to his former club as part of the deal, this could have legs but on this basis it seems a definite non-starter.

I’d bet a large amount of money on this being absolute garbage. As you say, Arsenal bid almost £40m in January so it would be pretty strange business to sell him for £17m 7 months later….That being said, if Levy is pulling off one of his trade mark bargain bucket deals I definitely won’t be turning my nose up! Absolute quality player and aside from Eriksen, he is most definitely an upgrade on our current midfield. I won’t be holding my breath though.

Yet another player from the World Cup that some so-called journalist has decided to link with Spurs — that must be about 20 odd by now who have all been dubiously linked to us. I will treat this with the same sceptism that I treat every player linked to us in every transfer window – until it is announced officially by the club on our website.
And we are also getting Muller, Kroos, Khedira, Schurrle and replacing Poch with Loew!!
We need all quality midfielders we can get. The current attacking midfielders on our books are all poor apart from Eriksen.
