The transfer of Ben Davies is expected to be confirmed very shortly and if the Swansea man does come across to White Hart Lane, it’s felt that Danny Rose will not be content to wait on the bench for his opportunity.

It’s reported that Hull, who have already taken Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore from the club, will make a further bid for Rose, and that could leave the usual concerns over lack of cover on the left side of defence.

If Davies signs, Zeki Fryers is the one recognised left back who will be happy enough to provide back up. Rose and Assou-Ekotto could both be shipped out, possibly on a permanent basis this time.

We await developments on the Davies deal but as far as Rose is concerned, a source told the Daily Mirror.

“Danny’s progress has been affected by loan moves and a number of niggling injuries, and now Pochettino has come in and highlighted the left-back position as one that needs to be urgently addressed.

“A move back to his native Yorkshire could be just the job for Danny – and it would be a perfect fit for Hull. If Steve Bruce wants to play a flat back-four, Danny can perform as an orthodox left-back. If he wants to utilise a 3-5-2 system, then Danny is equally comfortable as a wing-back.”

  1. Are you kidding?! Davies is at least on a par with Rose right now and defensively is a considerable improvement. The only part of his game that Rose is marginally better would be going forward, but much like Walker, he offers poor delivery and so in the grand scheme of things, very little in this regard.
Davies is also three years younger, and by Rose’s age, will be a drastic improvement over his positionally unaware counterpart.
    But each to their own.

  2. Bruce the saviour of Spurs. Hopefully can get rid of Rose asap. What a liability of a player.

Why Redknapp thought he was a defender is ridiculous. Redknapp was convinced that Bale’s best position was always going to be left back, which shows how clueless he can be at times. He even tried to play Townsend in that position.

Rose has always been an average left winger and nothing else.

  3. Danny Rose, simply put, is not good enough for a team like spurs. The amount of times last season where he was out of position is staggering. Going forward his delivery was atrocious. Get rid. Has a bad temper too which aint needed.
