For the last three seasons, Tottenham’s Kyle Walker has virtually been unchallenged as Tottenham’s first choice right back but if the press is to be believed, that may change ahead of the 2014-15 campaign. As rumours persisted regarding the sale of Kyle Naughton to Swansea, Spurs were linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon right back Miguel Lopes and at 27, he would presumably do more than cross to White Hart Lane just to provide cover.

Lopes spent the majority of the 2013-14 campaign on loan to Lyon and it’s thought that a further loan deal to Tottenham is being thrashed out with the opportunity to make the move permanent at a later stage.

Lopes is something of a journeyman, having played for eight clubs in his professional career. He’s won four full caps for Portugal but that career includes three recent loan spells which doesn’t give great cause for excitement. Even so, some tangible competition for Kyle Walker on the right side of defence can’t be a bad thing.

  1. We need to buy Richards who can cover at CB a much needed position and he fits into the home grown players. It’s a bloody no brainer, wat are u doing Levy?????????

  2. Micah Richards had a serious injury which led him to lose his place at citeh – is he 100% over that? Not so sure.

  3. When was the last time Richards even completed half a season without being injured? it’s not really a no-brainer is it?
